Project 01- Sketches

This project is the first time for me to use CATIA. At first I am very excited and passionate, but this feeling was quickly substituted by confusion and tons of problems. After watching the tutorials, I made several designs and set different relationships between these geometric graphics. To me, this function of CARTIA is really attractive, because it can open endless possibilities to a design. As a designer, we can see the process of changing, and find the best effect from them.

The plan I chose to revise is the "Case Mila", designed by Antoni Gaudi i Cornet.

At first,  I simplified the plan as a series of circles enclosed by three straight lines and two curved lines.

Then, a series of geometric relationships were set to this plan: every adjacent two circles are tangent; the two circles in the middle are acting as the "driving wheel". The distance between these two centers is the changing variable. It is used to form the formulas that represent the length between these two circles' centers and the "important" circles' (circles that located at a corner, tangent to two sidelines) centers.
